Philips Search and Rescue Trust is the charity responsible for fundraising and promotion of the North Island’s largest pool of community rescue helicopters. This includes the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter which serves the Waikato, King Country and Coromandel region.
Maungahau Lodge: Walk for a Cause is a cross-country fundraising event where all funds raised are donated to the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter. It was started as a way for event organisers, Geoffrey and Johanna, to give back to the vital service that rescued him and helped saved his life twice.
There are two trail options, both which require a moderate fitness level, 3km or 10km (3-4 hour trail). On the trial you will not only be greeted by rolling hills, native bush, and rocky outcrops, and streams but also a restored musterers hut and a 5-acre lake.
When: Saturday, 18th October, starting at 9am with registrations open from 7:30am
Where: 281 Duncan Rd, Wharepuhunga, Te Awamutu 3874, New Zealand
All funds go towards the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter that serves the Waikato, King Country and Coromandel region.
