Raglan has lots of attractive places for walking and tramping. We tend to walk, rather than tramp, but from time to time we climb our local mountains, or go for longer walks further afield.
The first meeting to form Raglan Ramblers was held on Sunday 13th May 1990. The nine present had their first walk on Saturday May 26th 1990, going to the Pilot Reserve, now Wainui Reserve, where they walked to the trig, took lunch and got caught in a shower of rain. So Raglan Ramblers was 30 years old in May 2020.
When & Where:
Raglan Ramblers meet at 9am each Wednesday (except mid summer) on James St, near Wallis St. All are welcome to join the 5 to 15km walks. There is no charge, except to share petrol costs, or for boat fares.
What to Bring:
Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather, and pack a lunch, mobile phone, and a small first aid kit. Walks are usually finished by early afternoon. We often carpool to walk locations, so a contribution of 10 cents per kilometre is appreciated for drivers.
We walk for fitness, fun, and friendship, and we also love a good social get-together, with regular potluck dinners and involvement in local walking initiatives.
No sign-up or membership needed, just come along!
