About us

The Tairua Pauanui Sports Fishing Club is located within the tranquil harbour between the towns of Pauanui & Tairua. Spectacular fishing is at the doorstep with Shoe and Slipper Islands within a couple of short miles of the harbour entrance and provide fun safe fishing year round for both the family and the seasoned serious angler.

The Aldermen Islands area is within 11 miles of the coast and provides challenging populations of fish species whilst the big game pelagics flow in and around this area from around late December. The clubrooms sit on the top floor of the Tairua Marina complex and offer the best views in town out across the harbour. The ground floor of the building offers a fishing, diving & tackle store (Dutchy's Tairua), a gym (Paradise Gym) and a boat brokerage (Grady White Boats NZ).

Our programme

Tournaments:

Full members (this includes adult, couple, junior, smallfry and youth membership types) are able to enter TPSFC tournaments at a discounted member rate. Full members can compete for trophies, records and pins by weighing fish both inside and outside of tournaments. For a full schedule of upcoming tournaments, check out our website.

Club Hours:

The Club is open from 3:30PM daily - 365 days a year. Bar Licence hours apply. The Bar Manager or Duty Manager has the right to close the bar earlier than these times should they see fit to do so.

CLUB SOCIAL EVENTS & ACTIVITIES:

Quiz Night 

Marine's famous quiz night series takes place midweek over the winter months. Teams of six compete for the trophy - $20 per team per night.

Housie

Join the Housie Ladies every Tuesday at 12:30PM at the Clubrooms for a few hours of fun. $1.00 per card, bring your own counters - 10c pieces work well.

Art Group 

Tairua Art Group meets at the Clubrooms every Wednesday morning at 9:00AM to workshop, learn and practice art in a friendly environment. Annual fees $25pp plus a $3 donation per meeting. All skill levels welcomed.

Roast/BBQ Night

Join us every second Sunday at the Club to enjoy Marine’s mouthwatering roast meal (in winter) or BBQ meal (in summer). Bookings essential.

Rugby Luncheon

Each year in conjunction with Tairua Rugby & Sports Club, TPSFC hosts the annual fundraising luncheon. Each luncheon features a guest speaker - in past these have been: Graham Henry, Peter Leitch, Geoff Thomas. Stay tuned for tickets.

What you need to know

The club house is fully licensed and meals are available at the clubrooms from Marine's Kitchen. Ample car parking is available at the club and the Tairua Ferry is close at hand at the end of The Esplanade for those needing to get to and from Pauanui. There is boat trailer parking on the grass verge areas surrounding the Club and a brand new concrete boat ramp next door. Launching and parking is free at this ramp. Mooring for larger boats is available in the Tairua Marina or in the harbour.
