About us

Welcome to another season of hockey at the all new international standard, floodlit water turf.

All games are played at the Hockey Centres sub regional sports facility, Hugh Hayward Domain in Ngatea. We have primary, secondary and senior winter competitions, plus our fun summer social hockey.  With Tiny Sticks for pre school children and The Hockey Big Day Out, a chance for primary students to "give hockey a go" we offer hockey for all ages and abilities.

Our programme

Primary Hockey 2025

For all ages and abilities Thames Valley Hockey follows the Hockey NZ Hockey Programme.  (Fun Sticks, Mini Sticks, Kiwi Sticks and Kwik Sticks).  ​​​​​​​

Season starts Term 2 2025.  Games are played after school during the week and some grades on Saturday mornings

Secondary School Hockey

Thames Valley Hockey runs a Secondary competition during the winter sport season.   All games at Ngatea and Tuesday nights.  

We have teams from around the district playing on Tuesday nights. Our schools are:

Representative Hockey

Thames Valley Hockey sends age group representative teams to regional and national tournaments. With its widely recognised Extend and Develop programme in support of holistic athlete development, players wear the Swamp Fox playing strip with pride. For players interested in development programmes email rdo@valleyhockey.org.nz

SUMMER HOCKEY LEAGUE - Join the summer social league each year in February.   A great chance to play hockey with mates and family in a fun, social environment. New teams welcome.  Season runs Feb/March each year.
