Zone Physio & Pilates was established in 2003 by Tam Holden and Jonty Garlick. As Post-Graduate Qualified Physiotherapists, Tam and Jonty have over 30 years experience in the assessment and treatment of musculo-skeletal injuries. With a drive for a more holistic approach to treatment, injury prevention and wellness for life, Tam and Jonty found Pilates and have never looked back.
Pilates embraces mind with all the body systems to achieve the ultimate in efficiency of movement. The team at Zone Physio & Pilates are highly skilled and work with clients with passion and dedication to achieve just that. They embrace the very essence of what Pilates is, combined with their clinical expertise, to understand the bodies and minds of clients and work together with their clients to achieve their individual goals. From the recreational sportsperson to the elite, the fitness client to rehabilitation, pregnancy to post-partum, Cancer Rehabilitation, the team welcomes the opportunity to work with you.
At Zone Physio & Pilates a Qualified Pilates practitioner will initially take clients for an Introductory One-on-One session. This session teaches the fundamental Principles of Movement and establishes the specific needs and goals of each individual client. Clients' enjoy the benefits of continued One-on-Ones for 4-5 additional sessions and then have the option of moving into a group setting. These small groups have a maximum of six participants, all of whom are at a similar level. A combination of Mat work and Apparatus based exercises are used. There is also the option of Mat Group Classes with a maximum of 10 participants. We have also introduced supervised studio sessions, where a maximum of six clients work on their own personalised programme under the guidance of one of our Physios.
Specificity for clients is of utmost importance. The team has found the initial investment of One-on-One sessions before moving into a group setting to be the ultimate way to establish a good understanding of the client and their Bodymind; to be specific towards goal setting and session planning; to ensure the client truly understands the principles of Pilates and the language and achieves a good base of repertoire on the mat and the apparatus.
To maintain the specificity and client focus, group classes are all fully supervised. Client numbers within groups are kept low and clients within groups are matched to like level and/or matched to problems and goals. Teamwork with clients is very important to us and communication lines are always open to ensure clients feel confident, educated and important.
